"Madness & Empathy in School Shooting Fiction and Activism"

In June 2019, I discussed the growing archive of school shooting fiction in reference to exceptional youth gun violence activists Edna Lizbeth Chavez, Emma González, and Naomi Wadler in their 2018 March for Our Lives speeches.

Specifically, I talk about them in conversation with Marieke Nijkamp's This Is Where It Ends as an example of work that pushes against some of the common tropes we hear about so-called "mental illness," domestic abuse, and gun violence. Check out my slides below to get a sense of what I discussed.
